Borussia Dortmund have been very active in the transfer window. But they had completed one signing way back in February. Bayer Leverkusen centre-back, Omer Toprak, decided to leave his club and join the Black and Yellows for next season.
Who is Toprak?
Omer Toprak is a Turkish professional player and a veteran in the German Leagues. He joined TSB Ravensburg at the age of 5. After spending 7 years at the youth club, he moved to FV Ravensburg in 2001. In 2005, he got his first taste of Bundesliga football when he joined Freiburg.
Freiburg promoted him to the first team in 2008 as the side were in the 2. Bundesliga. In his first season, Toprak played a crucial role that helped his side be promoted to the first division. In 2011, he moved to Bayer Leverkusen. He spent 6 seasons with the side before deciding to leave them this season. He had a release clause in his contract which Dortmund were ready to match.
