Three B-team players that should join the Dortmund first team
Borussia Dortmund is a club known for nurturing young talents and molding them into superstars. So let’s take a look at some of the players from the B-team who should we given a chance with the senior side.
Currently sitting top of the Bundesliga, the German side has been plagued by injuries in the past couple of weeks, keeping many key players away from the football field.
As the season progresses, Dortmund must rely on their squad squad depth. And in order to do this, apart from their summer transfers, they will need to promote players from their B team. Here are 3 players you might not be aware of who deserve first-team call-ups.
Patrick Mainka
First of all, we have current B team captain Patrick Mainka. The 22-year-old has been at the club for the past 3 seasons. In this season alone he already has 2 goals in 9 games, despite playing as a center back. Mainka is a huge guy standing at 6”4’. His dream is to replace club legend Mats Hummels in the future. Currently, in a defense that includes Sokratis, Bartra, Toprak, and Subotic, it would be tough to see the youngster earn some playing time. Considering our luck, if one of those guys ends up getting injured Mainka will be our first option.

Michael Eberwein
After joining Dortmund with fellow teammate Patrick Mainka back in the summer of 2015, German striker Michael Eberwein has been pretty solid. Ever since joining three seasons ago, Eberwein leads the team in goals with 28 scoring already twice this season. If current striker Aubameyang gets hurt or needs a rest, he Eberwein could easily compete with Isak who at the moment has just scored once for the U-19 side.

Jan-Niklas Beste
Oh boy, am I excited to see this youngster make his Bundesliga debut. Beste is looking like one of Dortmund’s brightest prospects. Having only 18 years he already debuted for Dortmund during their Pokal matchup against Rielasingen. The youngster even managed to pull up an assist. Beste could even get promoted soon due to the lack of fullbacks on the current roster.

Jan-Niklas Beste has already played for the first team this season and will be hoping for more opportunities soon
