Dortmund coach Peter Bosz praises “real leader” Aubameyang

Borussia Dortmund head coach Peter Bosz has heaped praise on striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his great start to the season.

The Gabon international has started the season in scintillating form, scoring 13 goals in just 11 appearances in all competitions. His goals have helped Borussia Dortmund claim a five point lead at the top of the Bundesliga table. And manager Peter Bosz has talked about the importance of the 28-year old to the team.

Aubameyang was linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund this summer. But Der BVB’s Dutch manager is delighted that he chose to stay in the end. In an interview with German outlet, Bild, Bosz has lavished praise on his star man.

“He’s not only important to the team because he scores goals, but because he always gives 100 per cent, whether it’s in games or in training,” Bosz said. “Aubameyang’s almost more than a footballer. He’s a great man and a real leader.”

Aubameyang’s importance to the team has increased over the last couple of years after the departures of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Ousmane Dembele, and Marco Reus’ constant injury problems. But Dortmund’s Number 17 has handled the pressure of leading the attack really well and has become one of the best strikers in the world.

He won the Bundesliga Top Goalscorer award last season after netting 31 times. And he will be aiming to win the award again at the end of the season. He is currently tied on top with Robert Lewandowski, with both having scored 8 times.

Peter Bosz also said in his interview that he expects the transfer fees to reach 1 billion euros before too long. This summer’s transfer window saw Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele go for extremely high prices, leading to heavy inflation in the transfer market. And Bosz that we will experience the first €1billion transfer very soon.
