Borussia Dortmund is reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko, despite his poor first season in England.
Borussia Dortmund is keen to bolster their midfield in the summer, and a surprise name is being linked with the club. According to the Daily Mail, Dortmund could make a move for Chelsea midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko. The French midfielder joined Chelsea last summer but has failed to live up to his billing.
Bakayoko cost Chelsea 40 million euros when he signed from AS Monaco last summer. However, he has failed to cope with the demands of English football and has struggled to establish his place in the Blues’ lineup. His lack of composure and discipline in the middle of the park have seen him fall out of favor. Fans have been quick to turn on him and Bakayoko could be sold in the summer.
Borussia Dortmund, however, are prepared to give Bakayoko a chance to establish himself in the Bundesliga. With Julian Weigl, Gonzalo Castro and Nuri Sahin all being linked with the exit door, Bakayoko could arrive in the summer. It is unclear whether Dortmund is interested in a loan deal or a permanent transfer, but Chelsea is reportedly willing to listen to offers.
Of course, if Bakayoko turns out to be half as good as Dortmund’s previous signing from Chelsea, fans will be delighted to have him. Michy Batshuayi joined Borussia Dortmund on loan in January after failing to impress Antonio Conte. And after nine goals in 14 games, the Belgian could join the black and yellows on a permanent deal this summer.
Whether Bakayoko will join him remains to be seen, but Borussia Dortmund really seems to have stepped up their preparations for the summer transfer window.
