Mario Götze is back in the news thanks to his comments about wanting to link up with Jürgen Klopp once again. But it makes no sense for the playmaker to leave Borussia Dortmund again.
Götze left Borussia Dortmund to join arch rivals Bayern Munich in 2013. He returned to Dortmund last summer after seeing his career stagnate in Bavaria. Despite health issues and a lack of consistency, Götze showed glimpses of the form that led to him moving to Bayern in the first place this season.
However, that wasn’t enough to earn a place in Germany’s squad for the FIFA World Cup. Now the 26 year old is back in the news for saying that he would love to play under Jürgen Klopp once again at Liverpool. While Klopp played a crucial role in Götze’s development, leaving Borussia Dortmund wouldn’t be a wise move for Mario Götze.
Last time he left the Black and Yellows, he failed to settle at Bayern and did not get much game time. As a result his career suffered. It will be more of the same at Liverpool, with Götze unlikely to be a regular starter there. Liverpool are already loaded in the attacking midfield department and Götze is unlikely to get much game time in England.
But being a Dortmund academy product, Götze will always be loved at the club. He will also get more chances and will be a regular starter at Dortmund. His playmaking and technical ability will see him thrive under Lucien Favre.
Borussia Dortmund fans and the club have stood by Mario Götze through thick and thin, and the playmaker must now do the same and stay with the club as he looks to resurrect his career.
