Borussia Dortmund U17’s lose in final to FC Koln

Borussia Dortmund’s U17 team lost 3-2 to FC Koln in the German Championship after a thrilling goal filled first half that saw 4 goals scored in 30 minutes.

Borussia Dortmund’s U17s weren’t able to pull out the victory in the U17 championship, with FC Koln coming out on top in a 3-2 victory. Koln took an early lead 15 minutes in and then doubled their lead within the next 6 minutes. Going up 2-0 was a tough blow, however Dortmund were able to successfully battle back all in the first half scoring back to back goals in the 35th and 43rd minutes. Youssoufa Moukoko and Ansgar Knauff scored the goals for Dortmund.

Yousouffa Moukoko continued his insane season, notching his 50th goal of the campaign in the loss. The 14 year old is simply on another level, playing years above his age group he has been simply unstoppable this season, giving a ton of hope to Borussia Dortmund fans. There simply hasn’t been a player with this kind of goal scoring ability to come through the Borussia Dortmund youth system. He missed two big chances in the game and was unavailable to speak to the media after the game. It will be interesting to see if he stays with the U17s next season or takes another step in his development. He will still be only 14 at the start of the 2019/2020 season.

Although they weren’t able to pull out a victory it was still a very successful season for Borussia Dortmund’s U17’s. They continued to display the consistent strength of Dortmund’s youth system which remains one of the best in Germany. Don’t be surprised to see some of these names in the first team in the coming years.
