Borussia Dortmund linked with move for Belgian striker Dodi Lukebakio

Borussia Dortmund are one of the clubs reportedly interested in signing Watford striker Dodi Lukebakio.

According to Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws (H/T: Spox), Borussia Dortmund are one of the four clubs interested in signing Watford striker Dodi Lukebakio. The Belgian youth international is priced at 20 million euros by the Premier League side.

Lukebakio joined Watford for five million euros in January 2018, but wasn’t given a chance to impress. He was sent on loan to Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf at the start of the season, and made quite an impact, scoring 14 goals and assisting five in 34 appearances in all competitions.

His hat trick against Bayern Munich and his goal against Borussia Dortmund saw him burst into the limelight. He helped the newly promoted side finish tenth in the league table and finished as their leading goalscorer.

The highly rated striker is also wanted by Borussia Möchengladbach and French clubs Olympique Lyonnais and LOSC Lille. While Watford will also be determined to keep hold of the Belgian youth international.

Borussia Dortmund have already made a big splash in the transfer market, signing Nico Schulz, Thorgan Hazard, Julian Brandt and Mats Hummels for a combined fee of 128 million euros. So it will be interesting to see if they would be willing to spend a big fee on a striker who will not be a guaranteed starter.

Lukebakio certainly has great potential, but Borussia Dortmund already have Paco Alcacer and Mario Götze who shared the number nine duties this season. The duo scored a combined 25 goals and the BVB bosses suggested last month that the club may not sign a new striker.
