After just missing out on winning the Bundesliga title last season, Borussia Dortmund have done some excellent business in the transfer market to put together one of the strongest squads in the club’s recent history.

Borussia Dortmund have shored up their defence with the signings of Mats Hummels and Nico Schulz. While the arrivals of Thorgan Hazard and Julian Brandt will add some much needed firepower to the team.

With so much quality and depth in the squad, the competition for places is sure to give Lucien Favre quite a few selection headaches this season.

Favre used the 4-2-3-1 formation with two defensive midfielders for the majority of last season. But the new signings will allow him to try out different systems over the course of the coming campaign. Favre will be hoping to find the perfect balance and system, and it will be interesting to see which players get picked in the side.

Here we take a look at how Borussia Dortmund could line up this season.
