Borussia Dortmund are now in the process of reducing their squad size, here we take a look at the rumors surrounding the most high profile players.
Borussia Dortmund are underway in their final pre-season training in Switzerland, but there are still a few players back home that need to sort out their futures. Andre Schurrle, Maximilian Philipp and Shinji Kagawa were all left out of the pre-season preparations as they look for new teams. Sebastian Rode’s move to Eintracht Frankfurt was made official, he leaves Dortmund having never made the desired impact.
There are rumors that Andre Schurrle is closing in on a move to Russia, Spartak Moscow is the club linked with the former German international. It’s been clear for some time that Schurrle doesn’t have a future with Borussia Dortmund, the trouble is Dortmund are having a hard time finding a club to take Schurrle and his wages on permanently.
Michael Zorc confirmed to Ruhr Nachrichten on Saturday that Schurrle is indeed I’m concrete talks with another club and he is optimistic that the move will go through
If Schurrle’s deal with Spartak Moscow does come to fruition it seems like it will be another loan with an option to buy, with a fee of €8 million being rumored. That’s a massive loss for Dortmund on the €30 million paid for him, but it can be seen as a win if they can finally get him and his high wages off their books.
