Four players could be set to leave Borussia Dortmund during the upcoming January transfer window, reports in Germany say.
According to WAZ, Julian Weigl, Mario Götze, Mahmoud Dahoud and Jacob Bruun Larsen are among players who could leave Borussia Dortmund in the winter transfer window. Out of favour striker Paco Alcacer is reportedly unhappy with his playing time, but the report says that he will not be allowed to leave next month.
Weigl has been linked with a move to Hertha Berlin and SL Benfica in recent weeks, while long-term admirers PSG and Barcelona are also thought to be interested in his signature. WAZ say that the Portuguese giants are confident about their chances of signing him, and Dortmund aren’t closing the door on his departure.
Götze has also been linked with a move to Hertha Berlin, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, he could be allowed to leave in January.
Dahoud (8 apps) and Bruun Larsen (9 apps) have both only been used sporadically so far this season. And although their potential destinations remain to be seen, their days at the Westfalenstadion appear to be numbered.
The report also adds that RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland is still Borussia Dortmund’s number one target for January, thanks to his release clause of 20 million euros. According to BILD, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United have moved ahead of Juventus and RB Salzburg in the race for the Norwegian international’s signature.
WAZ also had an interview with Michael Zorc, during which the Dortmund sporting director backed Lucien Favre, and confirmed that the club aren’t looking to replace him during the winter break.
