Team News

Dan Axel Zagadou came off the bench to make his return from injury against Union Berlin, and could be in line for his first start of the calendar year. Thomas Delaney is back in training, but its unlikely that he will feature on Tuesday. It remains to be seen if new signing Emre Can will be in the squad. He trained with the team for the first time on Sunday.

Lucien Favre’s failure to rotate his squad hurt Borussia Dortmund big time last February. And the Swiss tactician cannot afford to repeat his mistakes this time around. That being said, it would be a surprise if Favre does make wholesale changes to the team for Tuesday’s game.

Werder Bremen have a big injury list, with a number of players set to miss the game. Ludwig Augustinsson, Philipp Bargfrede, Kevin Möhwald, Theodor Gebre Selassie, Niclas Füllkrug and Miloš Veljković are all expected to miss the game.

Expected Lineups

Borussia Dortmund: Bürki – Akanji, Hummels, Zagadou – Hakimi, Witsel, Brandt, Schulz – Sancho, Reus, Hazard

Werder Bremen: Pavlenka – Moisander, Vogt, Toprak – Eggestein, Bittencourt, Klassen, Sahin, Friedl – Selke, Rashica
