Bundesliga roundup: Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich win big as RB Leipzig stay top
By Tushar Bahl
Wolfsburg get their first win of the season
Quick-fire goals from Wout Weghorst and Maximilian Arnold saw Wolfsburg end their run of four straight draws to get their first win of the new season against Arminia Bielefeld. Wolfsburg hadn’t won at home in the league since February, but raced to a two goal lead thanks to strikes in the 19th and 20th minute.
Failure to take their chances allowed Arminia to get back in the game, and Sven Schipplock halved the deficit for the newly promoted side with ten minute to go. But Wolfsburg held on to claim the three points and move up to tenth place in the standings.
Werder Bremen continue strong start to the season
Werder Bremen made it four games without a loss as they held Hoffenheim to a 1-1 draw at home on Sunday. Maximilian Eggestein gave the hosts the perfect start, scoring in just the fifth minute. But Dennis Geiger pulled Hoffenheim back level midway through the second half, and the Sinsheim based side had the better chances to take the lead after the break.
But the game ended all square, taking Werder into sixth place, with Hoffenheim a point behind in eighth.
There is still one game left in the matchday, and it sees Bayer Leverkusen host Augsburg in the Monday night kick-off.
