Union Berlin continue European charge

Union Berlin moved up to fifth place in the Bundesliga standings with a 2-0 win away to Werder Bremen. First half goals from key forwards Sheraldo Becker and Taiwo Awoniyi helped the capital club continue their dream start to the season. Despite being without Max Kruse, Union Berlin looked sharp right from the off. And they cruised to a comfortable win over a struggling Werder Bremen side.

Bremen have now lost four of their last five games, and find themselves in 14th place in the table.

Augsburg edge past FC Köln

Iago’s 77th minute goal proved to be the winner as Augsburg earned a 1-0 win away to FC Köln to move up to tenth place in the league table. Augsburg had a goal ruled out in both halves, but they did not let that prevent them from getting all three points. Iago tapped home the winner from Florian Niederlechner’s low cross to help Augsburg move nine points clear of the relegation zone.
