Union Berlin beaten by Florian Niederlechner brace

FC Augsburg earned a 2-1 win over an in-form Union Berlin side courtesy of a brace from striker Florian Niederlechner. Marcus Ingvartsen managed to equalise for the capital club in the first half. But it wasn’t enough as Union Berlin slipped to ninth place in the league table.

Stuttgart’s slide continues with defeat to Freiburg

VfB Stuttgart suffered their second defeat in a row, losing 2-1 away to SC Freiburg. The promoted side took the lead early through Silas Wamangituka, but goals from Ermedin Demirovic and Wooyeong Jeong helped Freiburg overcome the deficit before half time. Christian Streich’s side held on to claim the three points, moving five points clear of their opponents in ninth place.

Hoffenheim thrash Köln to ease pressure on Hoeneß

Andrej Kramaric scored a brace to help TSG Hoffenheim earn a 3-0 win over FC Köln. Christoph Baumgartner was also on target, as the Sinsheim-based side made it two wins in a row. Köln remain in the relegation play-offs spot with only one win in their last seven games.
