A closer look at Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League group stage opponents

AFC Ajax
Four time UEFA Champions League winners AFC Ajax qualified for this season’s tournament by winning the Eredivisie last season. The Dutch giants have one of the most exciting squads in Europe. And they will be aiming to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League after missing out in each of the last two seasons.
Ajax is a club that has become synonymous with free flowing attacking football over the years. And they certainly have the players to cause a splash in the Champions League this season. Their attack is led by former Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sébastien Haller. While captain Dusan Tadic is another player who is capable of producing game changing moments.
Ajax also have some of the world’s most talented young players in their ranks, including Antony, Ryan Gravenberch, David Neres, Mohammed Kudus and Mohamed Daramy.
Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag is a name many Borussia Dortmund fans will be familiar with. He is someone several fans clamoured for as replacement for Lucien Favre last year. But ten Hag is still at Ajax and has developed a reputation for playing fluid, attack minded football.
