Who Were Dortmund’s Top 7 Players From 2016-17?
By Mark Sendon
6- Raphel Guerreiro: 35 games, 7 goals, 10 assists.
Coming in at #6 is Raphael Guerreiro. His 12,00 Mill. € price tag from Lorient seems laughable at this point based on how vital he’s been for BVB this season.
Guerreiro’s versatility is his biggest strength. Whether it is playing at left-back, left midfield, or central midfield he still found a way to contribute seven goals and ten assists in all competitions. Whether bombing down the left flank whipping balls in or creatively dicing the defense open from the middle, Guerreiro always seemed to be a key piece in possession.
Coach Thomas Tuchel praised his work ethic and versatility regularly, making sure he was selected to play whenever fit. Fans can easily recall his stunner in Bayern’s 4 to 1 demolition of Dortmund, just another display of the talent the Portuguese lad has. If this season was any indication, Guerreiro seems to be locked into BVB’s starting eleven at any position for years to come.
Season Grade: B+
