Borussia Dortmund: Summer Signings Ratings
Paco Alcacer (8/10)
Position: ST
Alcacer was a crucial signing for Borussia Dortmund as he adds the one profile we have been failing to bring to the roster, albeit temporarily. Selling Aubameyang was a huge loss and despite everything he did for the club, Michy couldn’t force a move and Dortmund didn’t persist either. It is a difficult position to see your club in when they don’t identify the biggest void in the squad for two transfer windows in a row. Loan deals are good business when you are experimenting with potentially good players. But to completely ignore a key position and only bring make-shift solutions to the table seems a little incompetent.
Putting aside the nature of his arrival, Alcacer is a lethal striker and his time with Barcelona, despite the limited minutes, will only have made him a more complete footballer. The Catalans failed to incorporate him due to the massive presence of Luis Suarez but his output in terms of goals and assists have been as elite as ever, in the limited playing time he was offered. Alcacer can be a massive asset to the team if the coach can provide him supply into the box. Marco Reus and Jadon Sancho will be pretty good complements to his poaching-style and personally, I look forward to seeing him integrate with the group and perform to the best of his abilities.
