Final thoughts

Despite Borussia Dortmund’s lackadaisical nature in certain situation over the course of the past three games, it is important to note that these results can’t be used as a perfect barometer to measure and predict Dortmund’s form for the rest of the season.

The season is still young, and many pieces are still new and trying to find ways to fit properly within the squad. What we can take from these games however is a general prognosis of what has gone well, and what needs fixing. Instead of panicking, I hope the club sits down and really focuses on both the strengths and weaknesses they have displayed, isolating where they can improve and what mistakes they shouldn’t repeat.

Their next game against Bayer Leverkusen is a good chance to seek redemption, as they will likely not sit back against Die Schwarzgelben under Peter Bosz’s philosophy of play. They will have to show that they are able to remedy their previous errors quickly if they are to make sure they don’t drop crucial points and fall behind in the title race early on.
