Leonardo Balerdi

Balerdi hasn’t been given much of a chance thus far in his Borussia Dortmund career but that has slowly started to change recently. He has been brought in later in games recently, which is a lot more than he had seen before this season. With Dortmund switching to a back three there’s a real chance Balerdi could see a significant increase in play time with a little bit of rotation if he continues to gain Favre’s trust.

With the sale of Julian Weigl there is also talk of Balerdi potentially seeing some time in central defensive midfield if Witsel requires some rest or has another injury. That seems a bit further away right now but regardless Balerdi should remain with Dortmund and hopefully sees a bit more game time.
