Lucien Favre vs Thomas Tuchel

Although this is usually reserved for player battles in these games the two managers are going to play a massive part in this game, more so than usual. Thomas Tuchel is a very intelligent and motivated manager, we know this as Dortmund fans. Although we may not appreciate Tuchels time here with how he left and the decisions he made but he is unquestionably an exceptional tactical manager. You can guarantee he has analysed Dortmund’s playing style under Favre very thoroughly and has planned for ways to limit our strengths and take advantage of our weaknesses.

The big test will come for Lucien Favre, who above all else is typically a creature of habit. He is a solid tactical manager but he doesn’t excel in being able to adapt if his initial plan isn’t working. There’s no doubt he will need to be more flexible in this one, with how Tuchel prepares, Dortmund will need a plan B when the first option is being taken away. If Favre is able to adapt on the fly and start taking advantage of in game weaknesses he picks up on Dortmund could have a real chance.
