The danger man for Borussia Dortmund to watch out for is Freiburg striker Nils Petersen, as he has scored in both league games of the new season. They will also need to keep a close eye on Lucas Höler to cut out part of the supply. Midfielder Baptiste Santamaria earned rave reviews for his debut against Wolfsburg, and he will be aiming to pick up right where he left off.
The biggest thing Dortmund must do in the match is under no circumstances give away any free kicks in their half, cheap or otherwise. Freiburg’s record from dead-ball situations is very good, so this is something that the Dortmund players need to be very mindful of during the game.
Erling Haaland added another goal to his tally mid-week, and he is someone who will be getting the full attention of the Freiburg defence. Julian Brandt also got on the scoresheet against Bayern, and depending on the fitness Sancho and Reus, he could be in line for another start. The goal will certainly have done good for his confidence, and if he can build on it with a strong performance on Saturday, it will be very difficult for Lucien Favre to drop him.
