Previous Meeting: Bayer Leverkusen 4-3 Borussia Dortmund

It has almost been one year since Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund last met. The previous meeting between these two sides ended in a seven goal thriller that saw Dortmund implode late on, suffering a 4-3 defeat in what was a topsy-turvy encounter.

Goals from Mats Hummels and Emre Can helped Borussia Dortmund come from behind to take a 2-1 lead after Kevin Volland had put Leverkusen ahead early on. The German striker cancelled out Can’s wonder-goal shortly before halftime to give Leverkusen the boost they needed going into the break.

Raphael Guerreiro put Dortmund 3-2 up just after the hour mark, before Leon Bailey and Lars Bender scored in quick succession to stun the away side and seal a memorable 4-3 win for Bayer Leverkusen.
