Defense: Thomas Meunier, Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels, Raphael Guerreiro

It is unlikely that we will see any changes to the Borussia Dortmund back line, especially with only two fit centre-backs available. Thomas Meunier and Raphael Guerreiro will start in the two full-back roles, despite struggling against Leverkusen.

Guerreiro especially had a torrid time on Tuesday, often forgetting all about his defensive duties, and leaving Mats Hummels vulnerable against Moussa Diaby. He has also not been able to match the attacking output he displayed earlier in the season, even though he did get an assist against Leverkusen. Hopefully, Guerreiro will be back to his dangerous best on Friday.

Manuel Akanji and Mats Hummels are the only natural central defenders available to Edin Terzic with Zagadou injured. So we will see them start once again. Hummels and Akanji were far from their best on Tuesday. And they cannot afford to make the same mistakes against Gladbach’s talented forwards.
