The Aubameyang era may be coming to a close in Dortmund. The Gabonese superstar is seemingly always in the forefront of transfer rumors. Whether its Real Madrid, PSG, or another club, there always appears to be another club seeking Aubameyang’s services.

It comes as no surprise that many of the powerhouses of European football are eager to sign  Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as he is the leading goalscorer in the Bundesliga so far this season. He has been in spectacular form this campaign, tallying 28 league goals so far. He will be looking to add to that in the remaining games, to beat out Robert Lewandowski for the Bundesliga scoring title.

Currently the strongest link seems to be for Aubameyang to make a move to PSG. The Parisian club are reportedly set to offer Dortmund €70M for Aubameyang. Real Madrid are still in the mix, as well as Arsenal and a few other clubs. It is hard for Dortmund to compete financially, with clubs with the monetary backing that the likes of Real Madrid and PSG have when it comes to player wages.

Aubameyang would undoubtedly make more money at PSG or Real Madrid, but there are some incentives for him to stay at Dortmund. Marco Reus has shown us that money isn’t everything, and Aubameyang will want to follow his lead.

1. Aubameyang is the Star at Dortmund

The primary reason that Aubameyang should stay at Borussia Dortmund is that he is the superstar of the team. He’s found his role at the club, and its a big one. The amount of goals that he scores reflects his importance to the club. He is a player that the club depends on.

If he were to go to Real Madrid, he wouldn’t be the star man at the club, and the same goes for other potential destinations. Aubameyang is a player that thrives in the limelight. It suits him well to be at Dortmund where he is the man in the spotlight, not in a place like Madrid where he will live in Ronaldo’s shadow.

2. Playing Time is Guaranteed

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is always going to be the starting striker as long as he is at Dortmund and he is fit. He has proven why he deserves time on the pitch, with his impressive goal scoring record.

A move to a new club is never accompanied by a promise of instant playing time. Look at the situation with Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Manchester United. He arrived at his new club and it has taken a while for him to find favor with his new manager. The same goes for various other players who were stars at Dortmund, including Kagawa, Götze, and Şahin. All players who have ended up making their way back to Dortmund.

A player of Aubameyang’s quality will have no trouble finding the pitch at a potential new club, but there is no guarantee that a place in the starting 11 will come quickly or easily. Competing against the likes of Benzema and Cavani, Aubameyang is not promised an immediate starting spot.

3. Dortmund Fans Love Aubameyang

Aubameyang is beloved in Dortmund. He brings a smile to fans faces every time he steps onto the pitch. The energy that he brings to the table is something special. His flashy and funny personality makes him a fan favorite, as well as a locker room favorite.

The fun loving attitude that he carries makes the game so much more fun to follow. From wearing masks after scoring goals to cutting up on his Instagram stories, Aubameyang will always be a fan favorite in Dortmund.

4. The Dembélé Connection

Aubameyang and Dembélé are a true dynamic duo. Dembélé has been serving up assists to Aubameyang on a silver platter all season long.

The young French forward and Aubameyang have developed a great relationship over the course of this season, finding common ground speaking French. The two will continue to grow and develop even more as they will potentially spend more time together on the pitch.
