Matthias Ginter

The easiest decision of Tuchel’s tenure to criticize was his reliance on Matthias Ginter. The 23-year-old made many mistakes this season and may be an acceptable reason to pin on losing matches or dropping points. Ginter seemed overwhelmed in the center of the back line, but when played in a wider role he seemed more confident.

Perhaps it is because he couldn’t make a costly mistake as easy when being played wide. However, despite the criticism, there are moments where Ginter performed strongly, and one must remember his age. At just 23 years old, there is still development for him to obtain.

Dortmund needs to make a decision on where his future lies. Next season he definitely should not receive the playtime he enjoyed this season, but a loan move or a lesser dependence would be easy to swallow and justify.
