Sokratis

With Mats Hummels departing last summer for the team that didn’t get relegated to the third division in Munich, Sokratis became Dortmund’s star defender. The 28-year-old Greek bully of a defender was one Thomas Tuchel could always rely on to deliver a performance. Unfortunately, a side effect of having Sokratis is the obtaining of many yellow cards.

Sokratis held a splendid passing accuracy percentage of 88% and only committed one error (which only led to a shot, but no goal). Thanks to other teams not playing nice each summer and stealing Dortmund talent, fear at the back of the mind will be the potential loss of Sokratis. One can only hope that is just a haunting nightmare and will not become a reality to endure.
