The Chinese Super League is throwing money at Aubameyang.

(Insert screaming sound effect)

For those of you saying to yourself, “this can’t be happening,” it is.

The Rumored Money Involved

According to Sport Bild, Chinese club Tianjin Quanjin are preparing to offer Dortmund a massive €80 Million Euro offer for the Gabon man.

To cap off this enormous transfer fee, the Chinese super-team, managed by Italian legend Fabio Cannavaro, is rumored to be offering Aubameyang a world record €550,000 a week.

This rumored weekly salary hasn’t been confirmed but has been floating around Twitter and smaller news outlets. Despite being a rumor, the notable part of this story is that Chinese teams have endless pocketbooks. Therefore, this rumor may indeed be true.

To add to the rumor mill, Aubameyang, who is currently on vacation right now in Los Angeles, posted this Instagram photo with this perplexing caption.

“Ready for new adventures?” Aubameyang to China confirmed? No.

Could it happen? Quite possibly yes.

If Aubameyang were to make a move to the Chinese Super League, he would join former UEFA stars Axel Witsel and Alexandre Pato at Tianjin Quanjin.

Additionally, Aubameyang wouldn’t be risking national team appearances as a result of a move like other players have.

National Team Status Worries? Not for Aubameyang

When Brazilians Hulk and Oscar made a move to China, many thought that their international career with the Brazilian National Team would come to an end. The main reason for these thoughts is that because the level of play is inferior to other leagues, their quality would diminish thus making them inferior options for the team.

So far, that isn’t the case. But, when Hulk and Oscar get older, will playing in an inferior league hurt their chances of an international call-up?

For Sebastian Giovinco, that was the case with now-Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

When Conte was the manager of the Italian national team, Conte left Giovinco off of the 2016 UEFA Euro Cup roster and went with lesser-known players from the Serie A. Conte defended his decision to leave the MLS MVP off of his roster because he players in the MLS must ‘pay the consequences.’

Aubameyang won’t have to worry about either of those situations as he is the captain of his native Gabon’s national team. In a country that isn’t known for producing superstar soccer players, Aubameyang’s place in the team won’t be in doubt if he moves to China or even when he gets older.

The Three Reasons Why Aubameyang Would Leave

In all reality, there are three reasons why Aubameyang would go to China.

  1. Money
  2. Moolah
  3. Big Bucks

Despite three things, would a move be worth it for the Dortmund striker?

That is a debate for another time.
