Borussia Dortmund vs Hertha BSC: Preview
By Alex Orillac
This Saturday Dortmund will face current third place side Hertha BSC on our home debut at Signal Iduna Park
Coach Bosz’s philosophy was well received by the Dortmund lads and a clear example of that was Dortmund’s huge win against Wolfsburg. On the other hand, coach Dardai pulled off a convincing win against newly promoted side VFB Stuttgart.

Hertha BSC injury/suspension report
Die Alte Dame has a pretty complete roster and didn’t lose anybody last week due to injury or suspension.
Currently, Hertha is only missing its new signings for this match against Dortmund.
The Austrian winger that joined Hertha from RB Salzburg, Valentino Lazaro, will have to wait before he can make his debut for the Berlin side. The 21-year-old scored 7 goals and made 10 assists last season. Lazaro ruptured his ankle prior to signing with Hertha BSC.
Finally, we have former RB Leipzig striker Davie Selke. The 22-year-old German had a pretty quiet season last year only netting 4 goals along with a lone assist. Selke is dealing with a marrow bulge which excludes him from being in the squad.
Dortmund injury/suspension report
Die Borussen has the same injuries as last week.
Reus, Guerreiro, Weigl, and Schurrle will all be missing from action. Erik Durm will not be with the squad since he is currently in Stuttgart ahead of a possible transfer. The transfer has been slowly deteriorating mainly because of Durm’s hip injury.
Team captain Marcel Schmelzer will have to wait until his season debut due to his ankle rupture. He is slowly being reincorporated into training.
Sebastian Rode is still hurt and has not returned to training yet.
Ousmane Dembele has finally completed his move to FC Barcelona and will not be playing for Borussia Dortmund anymore.
Possible lineups
Hertha BSC 4-4-2
Jarstein, Plattenhardt, Rekik, Langkamp, Weiser, Kalou, Darida, Skeljbred, Leckie, Ibsevic, Esswein
Hertha should play with the same starting XI as they did last week against VFB Stuttgart. The Berlin side played great football against the newly promoted team. Aussie winger Matthew Leckie completely surprised everyone, netting 2 goals on his debut. It seems like he has a pretty lethal left foot and BVB needs to be wary of it. Hertha put up a great passing display with many accurate through passes and will battle BVB for possession.
Borussia Dortmund 4-3-3
Burki, Zagadou, Bartra, Sokratis, Piszczek, Sahin, Dahoud, Götze, Philipp, Aubameyang, Pulisic
Dortmund completely outclassed Wolfsburg last week destroying them 3-0. The new pressing philosophy worked to perfection and Götze’s return was huge–he commanded the midfield with ease. “Captain America” Christian Pulisic jad a great game as well, scoring and assisting a piece each and is in a purple patch. Dortmund wasn’t tested as much defensively but Marc Bartra scored a banger and looks to be in great form.
Final Prediction
Dortmund 3-1 Hertha BSC
