Analyzing Borussia Dortmund’s Strongest Starting XI
Julian Weigl
The German maestro was the centerpiece of Thomas Tuchel’s Dortmund, and arguably his most prized possession. Weigl’s passing accuracy and movement reminds one of Toni Kroos, a champion in every respect. With him in the midfield, there is no worry about congestion or lack of intelligence in the midfield.
Still only 21, Weigl has all the tools to become the world’s best holding midfielder for years to come. He has been compared to the likes of Sergio Busquets and Xabi Alonso and he is set to play a key role for Dortmund this season.
He is in the final stage of his months-long recovery from injury. So fans can expect to see Weigl make his comeback at any moment. We have yet to see him perform in a match under Bosz, but I have no doubt that he will succeed. He’s definitely something else.
