Borussia Dortmund FIFA 18 ratings predictions: Defenders
By Alex Orillac
With FIFA 18, the world-famous football game, set to be released later this month, it’s time to look at the possible ratings for our Dortmund stars.
After a solid season which ended with a DFB Pokal title and a quarterfinal run in the Champions League, Dortmund will be expected to receive a couple of upgrades on the famous Ultimate Team game mode. So here is a look at the rating predictions for Borussia Dortmund’s goalkeepers and defenders.
Goalkeepers:
Swiss goalkeeper Roman Bürki surprised us all with a very solid season with Dortmund. Bürki had a little setback this season getting 13 clean sheets and conceding 45 goals which were more than last season. Finally, Bürki has matured and has established himself as the starter in Dortmund for the upcoming years.
Overall Rating: 83
Roman Weidenfeller
Roman’s productivity for Dortmund has drastically diminished as the years pass. Last year Weidenfeller just played 11 games keeping just 1 clean sheet through the whole season. In addition to that, he conceded 18 goals. This year Weidenfeller will see even less playing time, therefore a downgrade seems like the more logical idea.
Overall Rating: 77

Defenders:
Our Greek beast had an excellent season last year defending Dortmund’s goal. A fan favorite, Sokratis, even managed to score 3 goals in 41 games. He was upgraded last year all the up to 85 overall rating after earning 3 inform cards. It is expected that Sokratis retains his overall rating.
Overall Rating: 85
Dortmund’s new signing Omer Toprak had a pretty rough 2016/17 season. As the captain of Bayer Leverkusen, he was showcased on 32 games scoring once. This was one of Toprak’s worst seasons in recent years, therefore a downgrade must be imminent. Last year’s 84 rated card was the highest rating he has ever have.
Overall Rating: 83
Marc is making us forget former captain Mats Hummels. The Spaniard had an amazing season last year in which he also scored 1 goal. Marc’s season took a tragic turn after the bomb attacks on the team bus during the UCL quarterfinals receiving an injury in the process. Marc will earn a well-deserved upgrade.
Overall Rating: 82
One of Dortmund’s most experienced players just returned from an unsuccessful loan spell at FC Koln. Even though Subotic is one of the most beloved players from the roster he is doomed to have a downgrade. He just couldn’t find his mojo last season and will serve as a backup.
Overall Rating: 77
The young Frenchman just joined Dortmund and it seems as if he will have a bright future. After playing 3 games with Dortmund it’s safe to say that if he keeps up the good work he has enough potential to go down in Dortmund’s history. Since he wasn’t on FIFA last year we can expect him to be a silver player.
Overall Rating: 72
Guerreiro had a breakthrough season last year earning himself a spot on the Bundesliga’s team of the season. In addition to his TOTS appearance, he scored 7 goals and assisted in 10 other ones. An upgrade seems obvious. The young Portuguese full-back is set to play a bigger role for Dortmund this season. Don’t be surprised if he gets a team of the week nod or two.
Overall Rating: 80
Club captain Marcel Schmelzer had a pretty consistent season last year. He was showcased on 39 games last season playing both left back and right. Schmelle will probably receive a small upgrade.
Overall Rating: 81
The German left-back is joining Dortmund after a successful European U-21 tournament. Toljan was a regular starter for Hoffenheim and will surely be seen in Dortmund’s defense many times this season.
Overall Rating: 74
The Polish veteran had an amazing season with Dortmund. He also earned himself a spot on the team of the season and will surely get upgraded. At the moment he is Dortmund’s best right back on the roster.
Overall Rating: 83
Erik spent most of the last season injured and whenever he played he was lackluster. He should be expected to play more and better this season if he wants to remain with the club. This will affect his overall rating negatively and a downgrade should be expected.
