The transfer window may have just shut, but the planning for January has already begun. And Borussia Dortmund will already planning their next moves in the transfer market.
Der BVB enjoyed an eventful summer as they made seven signings, while five players departed the club. The most notable sale was that of Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona. The French forward’s sale helped Dortmund make €105 million, which could reach €150 million after performance related add-ons.
Dortmund spent €25 million of Dembele’s fee to bring in Andriy Yarmolenko. But manager Peter Bosz will be tempted to splash the cash once again in January as Dortmund look to fight on both domestic and European fronts. A host of names were linked with the club on deadline day after Dembele’s departure.
But Dortmund decided to go with the 27-year old Yarmolenko. Now while the Ukrainian is a great addition to the team, there are still doubts as to whether he can replace Dembele effectively. The possible departure of Aubameyang could also complicate things for Dortmund in the winter transfer window.
And with Reus, Schurrle and Gotze all injury prone, the club will be looking to add some strength in depth in their positions as well. So here are five players who Borussia Dortmund should target in the January transfer window.
