5 reasons why Borussia Dortmund will beat Tottenham Hotspur
2. Previous Encounters
The last time the two teams met was in the Europa League during the 2015-16 season. Dortmund thrashed Tottenham (5-1) on aggregate with three goals from Aubameyang and two from Reus.
According to UEFA, in the first leg of the round of 16, Peter Bosz’ men had an impressive 66% possession and 17 shot attempts compared to Tottenham’s three. Granted the lineups were a little different and Dortmund will not have Marco Reus playing at Wembley.
In the Europa League, the German giants were being managed by Thomas Tuchel when they surpassed Tottenham in both legs. Tottenham were and still are managed by Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentinian manager will be doing everything he can to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself.
A lot of pressure will be put on Tottenham as they previously were embarrassed by the German club.
