Julian Weigl’s return has come at the right time for Borussia Dortmund /

4.The Return of Julian Weigl

Nuri Sahin did a fantastic job of holding down the center of the park during Weigl’s absence. But his return offers stability to Dortmund that Sahin never could provide. He was dearly missed in the Tottenham game as Dortmund’s midfield was all over the place in the second half and lost control of the game.

Julian Weigl is arguably the most important player in the Dortmund squad and his presence is always felt. While operating in the deep lying midfield role, Weigl sets the tempo and orchestrates the offense. Klopp liked to talk about his Dortmund playing “heavy metal football”. Whatever tune Bosz has them playing now remains to be named, but make no mistake about it, Julian Weigl is the conductor of this orchestra.
