Borussia Dortmund played seven games in the month of September, with every match producing great entertainment.

While their blistering form in the Bundesliga helped Dortmund open up a five point lead at the top of the table, things aren’t so bright in the Champions League. Dortmund have lost both their fixtures so far and face an uphill battle to qualify for the Round of 16.

Here are five things we learned from Dortmund’s performances in the month of September.

1. Ousmane Dembele will not be missed by the Black and Yellows

The Frenchman left Dortmund in acrimonious circumstances this summer to join Barcelona. And Dortmund fans and pundits alike were worried that the club would not be able to replace his 10 goals and 21 assists from last season. But new signings Andriy Yarmolenko and Maximilian Philipp have made sure that Dembele is no longer missed by the club. Yarmolenko has scored twice and assisted 4 goals since his arrival from Dynamo Kiev. While Philipp has 4 goals and 2 assists to his name.

Christian Pulisic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have also been creating chances and scoring goals for fun respectively. While Shinji Kagawa has also chipped in with goals to ease the burden on those in front of him. In all, Dortmund have had nine goalscorers in the league already.
