3. Dortmund’s transfer business should be lauded

It was yet another eventful transfer window for the Black and Yellows. While Ousmane Dembele and his departure grabbed all the headlines, Borussia Dortmund did some shrewd business this summer. Not only did they sell the want-away winger for potentially €145 million, they spent the money recouped wisely to improve and bolster their squad.

In defence, Omer Toprak has been consistently impressive while Dan-Axel Zagadou looks to be a star for the future. Jeremy Toljan has put in some good performances since his arrival from Hoffenheim.

Dortmund also signed 17-year old Jadon Sancho from Manchester City. While he has yet to play for the first team, Sancho has the potential to become a world-class player in the future.

In midfield, Mahmoud Dahoud is already forming a formidable midfield partnership with Julian Weigl and has reminded some fans of a young Ilkay Gundogan. While the two attacking signings, Andriy Yarmolenko and Maximilian Philipp, have already made their mark at the club. Both have been in blistering form so far.

All in all, Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a successful summer and their signings could lead them to the coveted Bundesliga crown this season.
