Sven Bender (Joined 2010, Departed 2017)

Bender joined Dortmund for 1.50 million euros from 1860 Munichin 2010. The center back made 31 appearances and scored one goal in route to winning the Budesliga title in his first season with BVB.

Bender was involved in a little less action the following year but, became an important part to Dortmund completing their title defense. He became the perfect replacement for former captain Sebastian Kehl in midfield for years to come. He protected the back four and was the starter of attacks for Dortmund.

Combined with his form progressively dropping over time, he was sold to Bayer Leverkusen just this past transfer window.
