Goalkeeper: Roman Weidenfeller

In goal is the man who has been at the club for over 15 years now. Roman Weidenfeller is a Borussia Dortmund legend who has seen it all at the club. From winning titles to relegation threats, the 37-year old has been through everything with the club.

Weidenfeller has won two Bundesliga titles and two DFB-Pokals with the Black and Yellows. He was also part of the team that lost the Champions League final to Bayern Munich in 2013. Weidenfeller was also part of Germany’s World Cup winning squad, albeit he didn’t play.

Ever since joining Dortmund on a free transfer in 2002, Weidenfeller has made 347 Bundesliga appearances for the club. In all, he has appeared for Der BVB 450 times and lies second in the all time appearance makers for the club, behind Michael Zorc.

While these days he plays second fiddle to Roman Burki in goal, Weidenfeller is a true Dortmund legend and his years of remarkable service make him the best goalkeeper of all time at the club.

Other notable mentions include Hans Tilkowski, who was the goalkeeper in the 1960s and Stefan Klos, who was the goalkeeper in Dortmund’s Champions League winning campaign in 1997.
