Borussia Dortmund have been enduring a difficult spell in the last two months. While support for Peter Bosz is dropping rapidly, so is the support for some of the players.

Failure to reach the Champions League knockout stages has seen Borussia Dortmund qualify for the Europa league. Seeing the club fail to win match after match has been heartbreaking. Some players have performed fairly well and hope shouldn’t be lost going into the winter break. Here are the power rankings for BVB players as of matchday six of the Champions League.

24. Jadon Sancho (previously 21)

Sancho has been on the bench in a few games, but keeping the bench warm doesn’t help his case. The 17-year has sporadically featured since he was recalled from the U-17 World Cup, and with the big boys under-performing, surely he deserves a chance.

23. Alexander Isak (previously 20)

Just like Sancho, Isak falls in the rankings due to a lack of play time. Even when Aubameyang was suspended, Bosz preferred to use Andriy Yarmolenko a chance up front. Surely Isak is due a start sometime soon.

22. Roman Weidenfeller (previously N/R)

Roman Weidenfeller started against Schalke and had a great hand in the game, for the most part. Unfortunately, the second half was disastrous for the 37-year-old. While he did make key saves, he had let 4 goals in during his one shift under Peter Bosz. Weidenfeller has returned to warming the bench with Burki back from injury.

21. Omer Toprak (previously 17)

During his time at Dortmund so far, Toprak has managed to go from bad to worse as a defender. Maybe he was a better option for the previous manager, but Peter Bosz is incapable of bringing out the good in Toprak. Making matters worse, he fails to properly mark opponents consistently while playing and has often been found out of position. Now he is below Neven Subotic in the pecking order.

20. Lukasz Piszczek (previously 12)

His has been missed tremendously on the pitch since picking up his injury on international duty.

19. Neven Subotic (previously 22)

Subotic is three games into the season, which is more surprising than it sounds. It’s unfortunate to say, yet it shows how infrequently he’s being used in recent times. Subotic was given the opportunity to start after a long stretch of not being picked, and he doesn’t seem to be bringing much stability to the defense either.
