10. Marcel Schmelzer (previously 15)

Since Schmelzer’s return from injury, he has failed to perform like he has over the years for Dortmund. His leadership and ability are starting to invigorate the team. However, having put on better performance against Real Madrid on Wednesday, Schmelzer should be returning to top form shortly. Providing a pivotal assist against Real Madrid, Schmelzer will be key in the defense for matches to come.

9. Nuri Sahin (previously 7)

Sahin has been the mainstay of Dortmund’s midfield since the start of the season. He has been able to repay that faith with numerous top performances. Since stepping down from international duty, he has played well in midfield. Sahin has plenty of BVB pride and continues to perform consistently when called upon.

8. Sokratis (previously 8)

Sokratis is just as vital to Borussia Dortmund’s defense as Schmelzer. He has put on some strong performances, but a slight dip in form due to a possible injury has prevented him from going higher on the list. After getting hurt in the ribs (and selling it hilariously against Schalke), he has slowed down a tad. Some much-needed rest would help out the Greek International, following that, his form should start returning to the top.

7. Roman Burki (previously 11)

Roman Burki has made extremely important saves in some tough matches this season, and despite some costly errors in the Champions League, his league performances have been sensational. With that being said, Dortmund are still conceding a lot of goals. It does not help that the defense in front of Burki has been absolutely atrocious.

6. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (previously 5)

Since his suspension, whenever Aubameyang has played he has scored. It’s unfortunate that he had personal troubles with the club recently, and picking up a red card against Schalke didn’t help his cause. While Aubameyang does seem to be on the swing back to form, it should be taken in stride. It doesn’t look like the Gabonese international will be at the club much longer.
