It’s Christmas and I would love to say that I have my transfer wish list ready, but the truth is that it is very difficult to improve upon the squad we already have.

One would have hoped that Marc Bartra, Sokratis and Toprak would have come through. But apart from the Greek, the entire defence as a whole has been lacklustre. It might seem difficult but signing Jonathan Tah should be made a priority. Even if the move actually happens in the summer, an approach should be made now. Tah and Zagadou could form a pairing that will last a generation.

Another name on my wish list is Liverpool man Emre Can. The versatile box-to-box midfielder is capable of adding that special something which will solidify the centre of the pitch.

In attack, Dortmund already have some capable reserves. The likes of Maximilian Philipp can play centrally while Schurrle and Reus are capable of playing on the wings. There is also Jadon Sancho who can support Pulisic and Aubameyang in attack.

Signing Tah and Can will prove a tall task at the moment but making contact now will read dividends in the future.
