Nuri Sahin’s performances this season are summed up in one word: solid. Sahin has done his job whenever he is called upon. He may never reach the heights of winning Bundesliga Player of the season like in the past, but he has performed admirably this season. He is a solid backup option to Julian Weigl. Sahin like Weigl provided cover for the defence, and an outlet to transition from defence to attack. He cannot be blamed for the defensive struggles for Dortmund, nor can he be blamed for the wastefulness of Dortmund’s attack this season. Overall, Sahin’s consistent performances stand out in a hot-and-cold season for Dortmund.
