Mario Gotze’s goal tally for the season consists of one goal. The low goal tally reflects his disappointing production. However, the goal tally is not the sole reason he has disappointed. Gotze is not the creative force he was in his first stint with Dortmund. He no longer controls games, nor does he orchestrate the offence like before. Injuries have been constant during Gotze’s current stint with Dortmund, because of which he has been a peripheral player. Gotze reflects the state of the entire team because like the team, the talent is there but nothing seems to be working.
