Borussia Dortmund have had quite a season so far. After the January sales of Pierre Aubameyang and Marc Bartra, it was thought that the season was over. But Michy Batshuayi’s perfect start, Andre Schurrle’s superb turnaround and Marco Reus’ return has meant that Dortmund are on fire once again.

So here are the power rankings for Borussia Dortmund players over the winter period. Players with an asterisk to their name are no longer at the club.

27) Neven Subotic*

Neven Subotic did not secure any playing time with Dortmund in the winter and transferred out, joining French club AS Saint Etienne.

26) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang*

Aubameyang finally got his transfer out of Borussia Dortmund. Unfortunately, it was following a horrible performance against SC Freiburg.

25) Marc Bartra*

Similar to Subotic, Bartra also had zero minutes of play time for BVB over the winter. He too transferred out, joining Real Betis in Spain.

24) Roman Weidenfeller

Weidenfeller’s last shift in-goal for BVB ended in a 4-4 draw against Schalke. Unless Burki goes down with a big injury, don’t expect to see Weidenfeller get more opportunities as his career comes to an end.

23) Dan-Axel Zagadou

Zagadou has all but disappeared since November of last year. He does make the squad on occasion, but he is missing on play time. With the arrival of Manuel Akanji, Zagadou will need to work harder than ever. But he is still young and the club knows all about his potential.

22) Maximilian Philipp

Philipp went down with a horrific injury the previous year. Recently, he returned to training for Dortmund and should be back by April.
