Borussia Dortmund face off against Werder Bremen this Sunday after destroying Bayer Leverkusen last week. The Black and Yellows will attempt to capitalize on Bremen’s poor run of form in this away game.

Borussia Dortmund will play twelveth place Werder Bremen and some consider Dortmund will come out on top, but BVB needs to continue their winning ways. Losing could be the difference between ending the season in second place compared to sixth place. When looking at the club’s season, second place can be considered highly successful for Peter Stöger,

The Black and Yellows found great success at home last week. A decisive 4-0 win saw a glimpse of the future stars of the game. Christian Pulisic played one of his better games and Julian Weigl looked great in midfield. However, Manuel Akanji and Jadon Sancho stole the show in all honesty.

Akanji took over for Marcel Schmelzer who was not in the lineup. Akanji has been presented an opportunity to show how versatile he is and excelled in this match. The Switzerland international provided Sancho a beautiful cross that the young Englishman controlled perfectly.

In regards to Sancho, he got one goal and two assists on the day. Sancho and Akanji both put on Man of the match performances. This was a combined by an in general younger team. If Stöger can bring out the best in the same team again this Sunday, he may stick around next season.

Beyond BVB losing in the first match between the clubs, Bremen has not won a match since April 1.
