This is a problem position for Dortmund since Piszczek is already 33. The Polish full-back has served the club well and will likely retire at the club. Dortmund purchased his replacement last season but Jeremy Toljan failed to cement himself as a starting option. Despite being dropped for the first half of the season, Piszczek cemented himself as the first-choice after some solid showings during the business-end of the campaign.

Achraf Hakimi is being brought on loan to usurp Piszczek and finally offer Toljan some much-needed motivation to start performing.
