Japanese star Shinji Kagawa had a fantastic season with BVB before going above and beyond everyone’s expectations with his National Team in the World Cup. Dortmund had several names on their roster in the midfield department but none who could challenge Kagawa for a spot.

Mario Götze was expected to be his substitute and with the German recovering his form, things were starting to get very interesting indeed. The signing of Axel Witsel, however, has drowned the competition into the water. Witsel is a big name and will probably remain a fixture in the starting XI for most of the season. This signing is definitely going to deprive one key player of major minutes in the coming season, no matter where he plays.
