What would constitute a successful season for Borussia Dortmund?

After seeing three managers in two years, a successful season for Favre will be keeping his job by the end of the season. All jokes aside, silverware is important this season. I am optimistic when I believe that Borussia Dortmund can win a major trophy this season.

Also, I believe BVB getting a double over Bayern count as successful. Despite Dortmund’s impressive performances in preseason, there is a lot of work to be done still. There were moments of weakness that Favre needs to fix. I am managing my expectations this season. This may turn into a rough season with plenty of new players in the mix, especially if they take a long time to settle.

Dortmund’s most important signing?

Achraf Hakimi is on loan at Borussia Dortmund for the next two seasons. And I believe that he will be a vital signing for the club. Jeremy Toljan was the only back up to Lukasz Piszczek and that is dangerous. I like Toljan, but he did not get much of a chance to perform last season. And when he did, he failed to impress. Hakimi will have a lot to prove in the upcoming seasons; hopefully, he becomes one of the next great right backs.

Dortmund’s most important player?

Maximilian Philipp will be the most important player this year. Marco Reus is captain, but the club lacks true goal scoring threat since Aubameyang left. Philipp was performing really well last season before he got injured.

Philipp is versatile and had a decent return for a player who played only 28 games. Despite his injury problems, he managed nine goals and five assists. Even though he is looking at taking the main striker role, having him in the attack, in general, is great. If Philipp makes good on his chances, he may fill the void left by Michy Batshuayi.
