Robert Lewandowski singlehandedly dismantles Real Madrid

While Dortmund needed a miracle in the QFs of the 2012-13 campaign against Malaga, all they needed was Robert Lewandowski to tear apart an incredibly strong Real Madrid side at home in the Semi-Finals.

Less than ten minutes in, Lewandowski gave Dortmund the lead after a sensational cross from Mario Gotze. Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t one to stay away from the action, however, and soon found himself on the score-sheet, after a controversial counter-attack that followed a denied penalty call for Borussia Dortmund on the other end of the pitch.

The two teams went to dressing rooms, level at half-time but that was soon to change. In less than twenty minutes, Lewandowski scored three goals that almost confirmed Dortmund’s spot into the final. This was an important game as the chances of getting a win at the Santiago Bernabeu seemed like a herculean task. By putting on a strong showing at home, Dortmund ensured that they weren’t at the mercy of the Spanish giants and the strategy worked.

Despite losing the away game 2-0, Borussia Dortmund were through to the final, all thanks to four amazing goals by Lewandowski. What a performance!
