Borussia Dortmund played a slow-moving game against Hannover 96 last time out. That game dragged on and neither side was able to find a winner. Marco Reus easily had the most chances, but a bad day at the office can affect everyone. Reus needs to get assistance when he is in the attack and there is only so much that can be done. New signing Paco Alcacer could be brought into the side to ease some of the pressure off Reus.

The defending DFB-Pokal Champions have had a poor start to their campaign. Eintracht Frankfurt looks weak going into Match Day 3. There are several players who are out injured and those players are essential in Adi Hutter’s squad. Attempts to bolster the squad this summer look to have backfired already.
New signing Kevin Trapp struggled on his debut as Frankfurt suffered a 2-1 defeat last time out. Jetro Williams will be absent as the wing back picked up a red card in the last game.
Team News
The Champion’s league roster was released and the tournament starts after this match. The depth in Borussia Dortmund’s squad will be the key to the success in that competition. Favre could make some changes for Friday’s game, with the Champions League opener in mind.
Favre is giving younger players a chance to showcase their talents for the Black and Yellows. Jacob Brunn Larsen looked fantastic in preseason and was on the verge of playing his first senior game prior to an injury. Now that he is back, there should be more time for experimentation with the starting XI.
Omer Toprak and Raphael Guerrerio are both out with injuries for this game. They don’t look like they are returning anytime soon. Hopefully, they can reintegrate into the first team when healthy. Christian Pulisic is a doubt, having missed Dortmund’s game against Hannover.
Opposition Star Man: Sebastien Haller
The French-born striker is Frankfurt’s biggest asset. Last season he scored 13 and assisted 7, and this year he has found the back of the net twice. Frankfurt has scored only 3 goals in total so far, and Haller will need to be in top form when he gets on the pitch.
Last Match: Borussia Dortmund 3 Eintracht Frankfurt 2
Michy Batshuayi scored a 94th minute winner for Borussia Dortmund in what was a thrilling encounter. Dortmund dominated the first half and took the lead through and own goal, before Frankfurt got back into it. Batshuayi scored to give Dortmund the lead once again, before Frankfurt made it 2-2 in stoppage time. But the Belgium international made sure that the Black and Yellows got the three points with a lovely strike in the final minute of the game.
