Christian Pulisic (5/10)

It just wasn’t Christian Pulisic’s day today as his dribbles and take-ons did not seem to come off like they have in recent weeks. Was replaced by Jadon Sancho in the second half, and the Englishman ended up changing the game for Borussia Dortmund.

Marco Reus (7/10)

Reus came close to scoring in the first half but his free kick was well saved by Hradecky. But other than that, Reus failed to make much of an impact in the first half. All that changed in the second half, as Reus was given more of a free role and he looked like a different beast. He nearly scored Dortmund’s first goal in the 65th minute with a stunning volley, but was denied by the Leverkusen goalkeeper. Luckily, Bruun Larsen was there to tap home the rebound. Reus then scored Dortmund’s equaliser just four minutes later after some great link-up play with Jadon Sancho.

Jacob Bruun Larsen (6/10)

Just like the rest of his teammates, Bruun Larsen failed to make much of an impact in the first half. But the Dane was much more incisive in the second half and made some very good runs down the left flank. He showed great awareness to get Borussia Dortmund’s first goal from point blank range, after Hradecky had saved Marco Reus’ volley.

Maximilian Philipp (4/10)

Philipp looked lost playing in the number nine role once again. He was often starved of any decent service, but when he got the ball, he often did not know what to do with it. Was replaced by Alcacer at the hour mark, who turned out to be Borussia Dortmund’s matchwinner.

Substitutes

Mahmoud Dahoud (7/10)

Dahoud came on at half time for Thomas Delaney who had a yellow card and he played a key role in Borussia Dortmund’s comeback. While he may not have scored or assisted any goals, his presence was enough to make Borussia Dortmund more unpredictable going forward. He made forward runs, showed great intent and made some very intelligent passes. Slowly, but surely Dahoud is making that number ten role his own at Borussia Dortmund.

Paco Alcacer (9/10)

Alcacer scored the all important winner for the Black and Yellows with a lovely toe poke, which went in off the post, sparking wild celebrations among the Dortmund supporters. He then doubled his tally by scoring Dortmund’s fourth into an empty net. Had he reacted just a second earlier for Dortmund’s first goal, he would have gone home with the match ball today. Still, a brilliant all-round performance by the Spaniard, who now has three goals despite playing just 50 minutes of football for Borussia Dortmund.

Jadon Sancho (8/10)

Sancho came on in the 68th minute and made a devastating impact just a minute later to set up Marco Reus for Borussia Dortmund’s equaliser. He then assisted Alcacer’s second goal with an excellent cross field ball in stoppage time. Sancho now has the most assists in the Bundesliga this season (5), despite not having started a single game in the competition. Super Sub.
